Welcome Back!

I would like to welcome all 6th grade parents and students to JMMS.  Im excited to get to know and work with this group of students for 3 years.   I know people always say it, but it does go by fast.

I will be posting here school information, articles I think might be helpful and any other information that will help students have a successful year.

Graduation Information

Tickets for Graduation will be given to students on Tuesday the 13th after rehearsal.  Each student will receive 6 tickets.

Students need to be at EHHS at 5 pm for graduation. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m.

Portal Now Unlocked for the New Haven Interdistrict School Application

Below is the link to the application portal.  It will be open until March 5th.  The lottery for admissions will be on April 12th.  The application must be done online.

New Haven Interdistrict Schools Application Process

February 1st, the application portal will be open for students who are interested in Applying to the New Haven Interdistrict Magnet Schools.

The application period opens February 1, 2017 and closes March 5, 2017. Tuesday April 12th the Interdistrict school lottery will be done.

When:  Tuesday, November 15, 2016-afternoon (12:30-2:30) and

                                                   evening (5:30-7:30)

   Wednesday, November 16, 2016-afternoon(12:30-2:30)

How do conferences work?  

Teachers will meet individually with parents in ten minute blocks.

Upcoming Events!!!!!

1. Town Meeting Awards Ceremony Reminder

If you received an invitation because your child is receiving an award, it is this Friday November, 4 at 8:10 a.m.

2. Eli Whitney Testing/Application Deadline

Completed Applications will be sent out this week.  Grades closed yesterday and a completed 1st marking period report card is required to be sent with the application.  The deadline for applications is December 19, 2016.

If you are planning on applying to either Eli Whitney or Platt tech, an admissions test is required.  Dates and Times are available on the JMMS website, Eli or Platt website or in my blog posts.   You can take the test at any Connecticut Technical High School.   The admissions test in a math and language arts assessment.  Scores from that are used in conjunction with grades to get an bigger picture of a students academic abilities.

3.  Lyman Hall Presentation

The Lyman Hall Presentation will be this Friday November 4 at 12:45.  Sign Ups are in Guidance.
 Lyman Hall Applications are Due by January 13, 2017
